Is Car Ijarah Permissible?
Question:- I have a question about Lease. I think purchasing with markup has just been renamed. The price will be higher like in markup, and the car will be in the name of the bank. They will receive the rent of the car from you. When all the rent is collected, which includes the price of the car along with some profit, the car will be given to you. I don't know the details of the policy, but the prevailing opinion is that if I don't pay the rent of a month, I will be fined. Is all this usury and Impermissible (Haraam)?
Answer:- Sharia rulings are based on the process and contracts, not on the results. Leasing and selling on markup are two different things because of the difference in their process even though the results maybe identical.
