Performing Sajdah Sahv by a Follower in Congregation
Question:- We were offering Asr prayers in congregation in the mosque. One of our companions was also standing with us and we started prayers together with Imam Sahib. When the Imam Sahib said his first Salam at the end of prayers, our companion also said Salam once, and when the Imam Sahib said his second Salam, our companion went to prostrate to perform Sajdah Sahv. After prostrating twice, he recited the Attahiyyaat, and then the Durood Sharif and after the Dua, he finished the prayer. After the prayer, I asked him the reason for it. He informed me that after the second Rakat’s Attahiyyaat, he had mistakenly recited Durood Shareef for which he felt that he should offer prostration for Sajdah Sahv. Now the question is whether his prayers will be accepted or not. Please guide.
Answer:- His prayers are accepted and there is no need to repeat the prayers in the above case because the person has performed all the components of his prayers with the Imam and has only differed in salaam, so there is no harm in it, even though it is Makrooh.
