Personal Usage of Government Provided Equipment
Question:- A governmet agency funded me to prchase a cell phone, cost Rs 13000 for a project last year. Now the project has been completed and no any extension work is needed (Project Closed). Can value of that cell phone is Rs 5000. As project is closed now so can i use that cell phone for my personal use as there is no used of this phone and its value go down. I can not sell any funded items as per rule. Please suggest
Answer:- Even if the equipment in a government institution is no longer usable, it is not permissible to utilize it for personal usage. However, if the government allows the person to use it or if it is bought from the relevant institution, then its personal usage would be permissible.
