Prayer Calls in Mobile Applications
Question:- What do the Scholars say about this issue, that in western countries where the mosques are situated at fair distances and that the sound of the Azaan (prayer call) is inaudible. People use mobile applications to listen to prayer calls. What is the ruling regarding keeping silent when the mobile applications call for Prayers, and responding to it? This has become a culture.
Answer:- According to Islamic Jurisprudence, the Prayer Calls by mobile applications are just a recording and are not real Prayer Calls, hence it is not necessary to respond to it. However, a live transmission of a Prayer Call holds the same status as that of a real Prayer Call; hence it is necessary to respond to it. It's the same as installing a speaker inside your house.
